About us
We are an award-winning architectural practice based in Sydney, specialising in residential design. Our work extends and expands expertise gained previously in London, where Drew Hamilton co-founded the original pH+ in 2005, a practice which garnered national recognition in the UK.
In 2014, Drew moved to Sydney to successfully deliver the company’s first overseas project. 10 years later, the Australian iteration of the original practice, continues to adapt our extensive expertise to the Australian context. With 19 years’ experience, working with both private domestic and developer clients, we are skilled at listening, interpreting, and designing to meet (and exceed) a variety of briefs, across a range of budgets.
Dialogue is fundamental to the way we work. We see each project as a unique collaboration that responds to the Client, their brief and the site’s physical and cultural context. Through a rigorous process of investigation, distillation and refinement, projects seek to deliver considered, efficient and elegant design solutions, that offer maximum benefit to both client and community.
Projects delivered in NSW range from alterations and additions to existing dwellings, to high-end new-build houses, to infill affordable housing and boutique, multi-dwelling residential developments. Our creative yet considered approach, has allowed us to maintain a 100% record of obtaining DA approval on all such projects to date and across multiple areas of Sydney and NSW.
No matter the scale of project, our passion for design encompasses all project stages. We enjoy and take pride in offering a full range of architectural services, from initial concept design, through to site delivery and project completion, working collaboratively with consultants and contractors to deliver high-quality buildings for our clients.
Our creativity and expertise saw us receive a Commendation Award for the NSW Government’s ‘Missing Middle’ Competition, for our design of innovative ‘Medium Density Housing’ in Sydney’s La Perouse, a project that was subsequently included in the Venice Design Biennale, in conjunction with GA_NSW.
pH+ is an A+ Member of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) and a Registered Building Practitioner under the Design Building Practitioners (DBP) Act.
